Privacy Policy
Glimpse records short screen clips and gives you a link to share them. This policy explains what information we collect to do that, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, your name, and a profile photo if you add one. If you use a password, our sign-in provider stores it only as a secure hash; we never store the password itself.
- Google sign-in: if you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We don’t get access to your Google account, your contacts or anything else in it.
- Your clips: the screen recordings you make, the MP4, GIF and thumbnail versions we create from them, their titles, and who can watch them. Sound is recorded only when you turn the microphone on.
- Clip names: when you record, the desktop app reads the name of the app and window in front of you to title the clip. That title is saved with the clip, and you can change it.
- Settings: preferences such as your recording shortcut and who can watch new clips.
- Visits to our website: we count visits with Vercel Web Analytics: which page was viewed and when, the site that sent you there, your approximate location (country), and your device, browser and operating system. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t identify you personally. Links to shared clips are counted without the clip’s address.
- Server logs: like most websites, the services we run on keep short-lived logs such as IP addresses, browser types and times of requests, to keep Glimpse secure and working.
- Billing details: if you subscribe, your plan, payment status and the details needed for invoices and taxes. See “Paid plans” below.
We don’t use advertising trackers, and nothing we use follows you to other websites.
How we use it
To run Glimpse: to sign you in, store and play your clips, show your name and photo on clips you share, send the emails you need (such as confirming your address, resetting your password or billing receipts), handle your subscription, keep the service secure, and answer you when you write to us. We also look at visit counts to understand how people find and use Glimpse, so we can improve it. We don’t sell your information and we don’t use it for advertising.
Who can see your clips
- Private: only you.
- Anyone with the link: anyone who has the link can watch, without signing in. Apps you paste the link into, such as Slack or Discord, may show its title and thumbnail as a preview.
You can change who can watch a clip at any time, or delete it.
Paid plans
When you subscribe, our payment provider takes your payment. We receive your plan, whether payments went through, and the billing details needed for invoices and taxes, such as your name, country and the last four digits of your card. We never see or store your full card number.
Services we rely on
These providers handle information on our behalf and only to run Glimpse:
- Supabase: accounts, sign-in and our database.
- Cloudflare: storing your clips and their files.
- Vercel: hosting the website and counting visits (Vercel Web Analytics).
- Google: sign-in, if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Our email provider: sending account emails.
- Our payment provider: taking payments for paid plans.
Some of these providers process information outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union, under safeguards required by law.
Cookies and local storage
We use cookies only to keep you signed in, and your browser’s local storage to remember whether you prefer the light or dark theme. Our visit counting doesn’t use cookies, and there are no advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your information until you delete it. Deleting a clip removes it and its files. Deleting your account, from the Account page, removes your account, your clips and their files. Backups and logs may keep copies for a short time before they’re deleted too. Billing records are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require, even after you delete your account. Visit counts contain nothing that identifies you.
Your rights
You can see and change your details on the Account page, and delete your clips or your whole account at any time. To get a copy of your information, or for anything else about your data, write to support@glimpse.video.
If you’re in the European Economic Area or the UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict and move your data, and to object to how we use it. We use it to provide the service you asked for; for our legitimate interests in keeping Glimpse secure and understanding how it’s used; to meet legal obligations, such as keeping invoices; and, for the microphone, with your consent. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
Everything travels over encrypted connections. Clips are kept in private storage and played through links that expire after a short time. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
Glimpse isn’t meant for children under 13, or under 16 where the law requires it. We don’t knowingly collect information from them; if you think we have, write to us and we’ll delete it.
Google user data
Glimpse’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use your Google name, email address and profile picture only to create and sign in to your Glimpse account.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top. For significant changes, we’ll also let you know by email or in the app.
